This was a five year Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) project with multiple partners and 26 projects. We delivered the arts, heritage and community engagement part of the Scheme.
Presenting the Past
This was an intergenerational project which had reminiscence sessions, exhibition, and performance with accompanying reminiscence pack.
Gro Gathering music festivals
An annual pre-carnival music festival with activities for all ages, featuring local bands and musicians.
Millennium Night
Recreated the Rebecca riots and poachers. Community parade of Rhayader through the ages including a gigante puppet dressed as a Rebecca rioter, a fire sculpture and rioters visiting pubs to hide fake poached salmon up their chimneys.
Town and Country
Recording the Shows. A project recording local community celebrations: Rhayader Carnival and three local agricultural shows, Elan Valley, Pantydwr, Nantmel and Pont ar Elan.
Landed Festival
We provide children’s activities in a large marquee, usually with a natural world or ecological theme and an installation using our gigante puppets.
Time: ‘A book in a day’
This project saw 24 hours of participants writing, illustrating and typing up community work based around the subject of ‘time’.
A Very Rhayader Christmas and Lantern Parades
For many years, we ran a Christmas event – lantern parades, installations, crowning a Holly King and Queen and family activities.
Rhos Pastures
A partnership project where we delivered the community engagement, arts and heritage elements of the project. The profile of this landscape type was raised nationally.
Rhayader Carnival
We take part in the annual Rhayader Carnival parade and provide activities for children on the Carnival festival field.
120th Anniversary of Elan Valley Dams opening 2024
We contributed to an exhibition marking the opening of the Elan Valley dams.
Ten Rhayader Men
An exhibition telling the stories of ten men mentioned on the Rhayader War Memorial and illustrating local experiences of wartime.
